Standardized Testing

Union Academy participates in all state mandated standardized testing. This includes the Writing test for grades 4, 7, and 10, the computer skills test for grade 8, end-of-grade tests in reading and math for grades 3-8, science end-of-grade tests for grades 5 & 8, and end-of-course tests in the following subjects: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Physics, Civics and Economics, US History, and English 1. Performance on North Carolina's standardized tests continues to be above the state average in most areas.

The Iowa Test of Basic Skills is also given to all students in grades K-9.   Annual Iowa test scores indicate that we are teaching our students well above the basic minimum state requirements.

Beginning in October 2006, we also began to administer the PSAT annually to all 9th, 10th, and 11th  grade students.
