Union AcademNews 

With sad heart we announce the passing of Leona "Lee" Spiesman. Leona served on the Union Academy school board for six years and on the finance committee even longer. She was a huge supporter of the annual auction and the school. Her son, William, graduated in 2009 as part of the first graduating class, Our thoughts, prayers and gratitude are with the entire Spiesman family at this time.

  Union County Student Artist Showcase Names Winners 

newsThe Union County Community Arts Council hosted the Student Artist Showcase last weekend. It is a juried show that highlights the artistic talent that is cultivated throughout Union County Schools. Each year, art teachers throughout the county select the top artists from each class, in turn, those artists display their artwork for the judges in hopes of the top prize.  
Union Academy had a impressive number of winners in the showcase. Each of the art teachers at all levels brought work from their students to compete and showcase.

Union Academy is named a 2016 NC School of Character!

Union Academy Charter School is pleased to announce that Character.org, a national advocate and leader for the character education movement in collaboration with the North Carolina State Board of Education and Department of Public Instruction, named Union Academy a 2016 North Carolina School of Character. The program recognized 

Character logoUnion Academy as a school that has demonstrated its use of character development to drive a positive impact on academics, student behavior, and Union Academy’s climate.
